The New England Patriots are reportedly making a slew of moves ahead of training camp.
According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, wide receiver Mack Hollins, tight end Austin Hooper, offensive tackle Vederian Lowe and linebacker Jahlani Tavai are slated to open training camp on the active/PUP list. Meanwhile, cornerback Carlton Davis III, safety Josh Minkins and wide receiver Jeremiah Webb are going on the active/non-football list.
Both designations mean the players listed have not been cleared yet for practice, but it won’t disqualify them from returning at any point. If anything, it will create more opportunities for others to step up and prove they deserve a spot on the 53-man roster.
There will be multiple positional battles throughout training camp, and we will see who takes advantage of the extra reps on the practice field.
Rookies reported for training camp on Saturday, and the rest of the players are slated to arrive by Tuesday. The first official day of training camp for the Patriots is slated for Wednesday, July 23.
