Adrien Brody’s girlfriend Georgina Chapman is dropping the real story behind the viral moment.

The actor was crowned this year’s Best Actor at Academy Awards for his works in The Brutalist, and while heading towards the stage for his acceptance speech, Brody chucked his chewed gum from the steps to his longtime girlfriend Georgina Chapman.

The moment went viral online and left viewers questioning the move.

However, in a recent chat with PageSix, the fashion designer opened up about the moment, revealing that in fact, it was her idea so that Brody could deliver his acceptance speech with ease.

“I asked him to do it,” she told the outlet at the Family Equality Gala. “I saw him standing there, I could see that moment of panic on his face. He was really like, ‘Wow, I shouldn’t be having gum.’

“Give it to me!” she recalled the moment which was labeled as “one of the strangest” of this year’s Oscars by The New York Times.

Previously in an interview on Live With Kelly and Mark, Brody talked about the gum incident, admitting that he wanted to “get rid” of the gum as he could not chew it while giving a speech.
